A Message from our President

fenceHello NVTA Members!

We are going to have our 2016 Spring Fling on Saturday March 26th from 2-5pm.

The formula is going to be the usual mixed round robin format pot luck.  We are asking for a $20 entrance fee to go towards the court resurfacing we are looking to finish by the end of this year.

This will also be our annual Board election meeting to elect four members.  Matt Forbes, Tony Kelly, Susie Savino and Lynette Hunt's terms are ending.

It's good to have new members participate on the board so if you are interested please contact Cindi Glaser at pumpkin2036@gmail.com.

Captain's Corner

New Playoff Rule

New rule: if Playoffs are not completed by the dates given by USTA Norcal, the decision to advance is now subject to a Coin Toss...NO EXCEPTIONS.. per USTA Office.

Reserving Courts for Matches

Captains: PLEASE email Victoria, our court scheduler, of cancelled matches so she can take the match off the calendar. It is inconvenient for other captains and  NVTA members who check the calendar to see if matches are scheduled. Twice this week, two captains asked for courts for make up matches but neither had notified Victoria that they didn't need the courts for the originally scheduled match.

Please be considerate of your fellow captains and all NVTA members.

News about  Shoes-For anyone disappointed that your favorite tennis shoes have been discontinued, we have new models that have gotten very good response: the new Prince T-22 Lite and the new K-Swiss Hypercourt Express.  As for Racquets, the new line of Babolat Pure Aeros are picking up steam as the prior AeroPro Drive models are disappearing.  Fees for Demo use are always applied toward purchase price and our prices always match the lowest on-line prices of current racquets.

As for non-tennis footwear,  Birkenstock sandals are "in" again even with the younger crowd.  Sportabout has a strong selection of Merrell, Teva, Keen, SAS, and Naot shoes sandals and clogs for 2016.  We have various insoles, arch supports and orthotics to upgrade most any shoe. It's time to give your feet the comfort they need during and after your hard-fought tennis matches.

The NVTA Board would like to thank Tom Steinman, the owner/manager of Sportabout for all the assistance he provides to the NVTA.

About Advertising

100% of the proceeds from advertising in the Newsletter will go towards NVTA's High School Tennis Scholarship Fund. We encourage you to support our fellow NVTA tennis members.

Please Keep the Gates Closed!!

If you are the last to leave the courts, please make sure the gates are closed and locked. We have found them left open overnight several times recently as well as the clubhouse doors.

Vandalism has been a big problem in the past and we have spent a great deal of money on secure fencing and motion lights. PLEASE help keep your courts in good condition by locking up! None of us want extra repair expenses, right?

Also, please remember to return the NEW rollers to the protective covers hanging on the fences.

The NVTA Court Reporter newsletter will be published monthly. Please submit articles and photos to Lorraine Fazzolare at napa10s@gmail.com.

See you on the courts!
