Annual Meeting and Round Robin was a success!
Bob Walsh and Caroline Price in action!
The Annual Meeting was conducted in record time, new board members were elected, all eight courts filled for a fun round robin and (as always) there was an abundance of delicious food to share! Thanks everyone for coming out.
Message from our President
Hello NVTA Members!

Please join me in congratulating our newly elected Board Members:

Class of 2017
Matt Hoskins
John Swenson
Sharon Howell
Beverly Leonard

Also Dan Hunt and Susie Savino are the new Membership Committee Chairpersons who will be contacting our NVTA Captains to ensure all their team members are NVTA members and have paid their dues.

We are gearing up for our Wine Valley Classic Tournament over the July 4th weekend.  We will be planting flowers, replacing the north facing windscreens, and, with Kirk Geyer's guidance, we will be building new steps going into the kitchen portion of our clubhouse All this is in addition to the usual court cleaning, painting and all the other necessities needed to put this tournament together. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer as we prepare for the tournament or during the tournament.

Mike Fischer and Matt Forbes Men's 40+ 4.0 team won their playoff match at In Shape Fairfield Dover and will be playing in the Districts in Sacramento on May 15-17.
There has been a lot of debris left on the courts lately so please if you pack it in pack it out.  Let's keep our courts clean!

Thanks and See you on the courts!

Fred Facchini
NVTA President

The entrance to the Vintage HS parking lot off Jefferson (where most of us park) will have the gate locked approximately 9pm. Therefore, any cars left in the parking lot after 9pm will be locked in and members will not be able to retrieve their cars until the following morning. So, if someone leaves a car in the lot, and drives off with friends to go to an away match or to have dinner, their car may be LOCKED IN until the following morning.
We need Help from our Members!
This 4th of July weekend we will host our 38th Annual Napa Valley Tennis Classic Tournament, sponsored by Starmont Winery.

Last year the event drew 300+ players and their families from California and the states west of the Rockies.  It is one of the largest NTRP tournaments in Northern California.

This year we have been awarded the status of "Tournament of the Year" for 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 levels, which will draw even more participants.

The Napa Valley Tennis Association, NVTA, is seeking sponsorships for the Napa Valley Classic Tournament. Your sponsorship will help us carry out our mission: player development for juniors & adults, maintenance of courts and facility located on Vintage High School grounds.

We are a non-profit community organization founded in 1967 with 300+ members. We are a 100 percent volunteer organization.  We depend on people like you. Everything we do benefits you, our members.

Please consider a sponsorship, or donation of any amount.

    Tournament sponsorship levels are:

    Silver - $250 - includes 3" logo on participant's T-shirt
    Gold - $500 - includes 6" logo on participant's T-shirt & tournament banner
Platinum - $1,000 - includes headliner in Inside Tennis magazine and tournament banner & 10" logo on participant's T-shirt

Please contact any board member if you or anyone you know might like to be a sponsor in this year's tournament. Thank you.

The Sonoma/Napa/Marin Women's Tennis League has drawn to a close for the 2014-15 season.  Sharon Howell's Division 4 team came in a strong second this  year.  The other Division 4 team, captained by Rosemary Quinn, had a respectable showing.  In Division 5, after coming in first last year in Division 6, Kathy Hess's team had a slow start in the first half.   Consequently, the team was not able to rack up enough points to stay in Division 5. Despite the disappointment, the Division 5/6 team had a great time and will be back next year.
Teams are now practicing for the 2015-16 season, which begins at the end of August.
If you are interested in playing SNMWTL, please contact Nancy Gardner at, or 944-1345.  Players must be available for practice and matches on weekday mornings.  All players must be NVTA members.

Please adhere to the new SNMWTL rules for reserving courts. Each match can only use the three courts reserved for their match. Please check the Court Calendar to see which three courts have been reserved.

Additionally, please be considerate by not scheduling a team practice during the same time as team matches are being held.

There is talk of a possible new women's team in Division 6 for next season (2015-16). If you are rated a 3.0 or 3.5 and wish to play on this team, please contact Victoria O'Donnell at or 707/815-8660.
    Please Keep the Gates Closed!!
If you are the last to leave the courts, please make sure the gates are closed and locked. We have found them left open overnight several times recently as well as the clubhouse doors.

Vandalism has been a big problem in the past and we have spent a great deal of money on secure fencing and motion lights. PLEASE help keep your courts in good condition by locking up! None of us want extra repair expenses, right?

Also, please remember to return the NEW rollers to the protective covers hanging on the fences.
